Job Summary/Objective
Assumes responsibility for the planning and execution of the Company's larger, more complex projects that support strategic objectives, as well as driving process improvement and standardization initiatives. Provides visibility, consistency, leadership, and oversight, and acts as a trusted advisor who provides structure, schedule, and accountability to highly visible company objectives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential to the job)
- Manages a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business units, including the management of project scope, resources, risks, issues, budget, and timelines.
- Works creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating a deep understanding of business objectives and project milestones.
- Leads cross-functional process improvement initiatives to create best practices, acting as a business consultant when needed. Gains alignment across the organization and builds out and executes the communication and implementation plan.
- Contributes to the development of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) roadmap, and supports the execution by leading various workstreams. Supports additional activities of the EPMO as required.
- Builds rapport with and among all project stakeholders and instills confidence in the ability to add value and meet program and project objectives.
- Communicates effectively with customers and other stakeholders and actively seeks alignment with expectations on all aspects of project execution. Updates senior stakeholders and senior executives on progress and key metrics.
- Manages and escalates issues as required including continuously identifying dependencies and project risks, identifying and managing key risks and developing mitigation plans, resolving cross-team issues in a timely manner, and facilitating decision-making and managing conflict within the teams.
- Mentors junior members of the team and others acting in a Project Manager role across the organization. Sets standards for process excellence in project management.
Education
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a focus in Business Management, Information Technology, Operations Management, or a related discipline. In the absence of a degree, equivalent work experience directly related to the key responsibilities of the role will be considered as a substitute for the degree.
Experience, Skills and Key Competencies
At least 7 years prior experience in Project / Program Management with proven success in leading teams and complex, cross-functional medium-to-large scale global projects to successful completion (or alternatively project management consulting experience)
Plus at least 3 years working in a SaaS organization supporting Product Management and technology-focused initiatives.
Must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
- Strong facilitation and consultative skills.
- Strong business process improvement skills and the ability to articulate processes at varying degrees of granularity to different audiences.
- Can effectively organize and manage day-to-day work and priorities, and use time, energy and resources to meet goals, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to make formal presentations to senior management and articulate dependencies and complexities.
- Strong leadership skills, and can motivate and lead internal resources to work together to resolve complex project problems.
- Ability to independently shepherd complex interactions and situations.
- Can effectively manage through ambiguity and complexity, and support multiple, simultaneous projects.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work, and can easily adjust to shifts in priorities as the needs of the business change.
- Able to effectively work and thrive in a remote/hybrid work environment that has limited opportunities for in-person interactions.
Special Position Requirements
- Occasional travel is expected in this position.
- Able to fluctuate work hours as necessary to engage with different time zones globally.
