Job Description

The client is seeking a highly experienced Senior SOC Analyst with a combination of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and strong communication skills. Below is a concise summary of the key skills and how the client will likely evaluate candidates: Technical Skills Must-Have: • 8+ years in Threat Management, SOC, or Incident Response. • Proficiency with SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR tools. • Experience with log analysis, intrusion detection, and incident response. Desirable: • Knowledge of network/host technologies and diagnostic tools (e.g., NetFlow). • Malware analysis and mitigation. • Threat hunting and proactive investigation. • Evaluation: Candidates will need to provide specific examples of using SOC tools, analyzing logs, or responding to incidents. Certifications like CISSP, CEH, GCIH, or Splunk certifications may strengthen their case. Leadership Skills • Must-Have: • Ability to lead and mentor junior analysts. • Coordinate SOC operations and team activities. • Evaluation: Candidates should demonstrate prior leadership roles, such as shift lead or team supervisor, and provide examples of mentoring or managing SOC workflows. Communication and Collaboration • Must-Have: Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Desirable: Experience interfacing with external partners (e.g., vendors, agencies). • Evaluation: Candidates will be assessed on their ability to write clear reports (e.g., SITREPS) and present findings to management. Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration will be a plus. Operational and Analytical Skills • Must-Have: Ability to monitor networks, analyze alerts, and manage incidents. • Desirable: Problem-solving skills for complex investigations, quality control, and playbook development. • Evaluation: Candidates should provide examples of resolving complex incidents, creating metrics, or improving SOC processes. Availability • Must-Have: Willingness to work night shifts (6:00 PM–6:00 AM) and weekends. • Evaluation: Candidates must confirm their availability for non-standard hours.
