Emerging Propositions teams are responsible for enabling and evolving product offerings in Beauty, Designer and Pre-owned categories. We solve customer problems related to unique customer experiences and assortment properties like high number of makeup shades, distinct presentation of luxury brands etc.

As a Senior Android Software Engineer in Emerging Propositions, you’ll have the unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, experiment boldly, and deliver impactful solutions that shape the future of the Zalando customer experience across all domains of Emerging Propositions. Collaborating with talented mobile and web engineers, you’ll help bring innovative ideas to life, adapt quickly, and iterate based on insights from rapid experimentation.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

 In Emerging Propositions we deliver relevant and differentiated digital customer experiences to make meaningful step changes towards the maturity of our emerging propositions.

• You will be part of an agile cross functional team and play a key role in solution design, planning, development, deployment, operating and improving scalable software solutions for Zalando’s mobile application

• You collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand the business context, and translate the requirements into technical designs

• You lean on your Android experience and skill set, write robust, performant and maintainable code. You own your code, review other’s code and contribute to decisions on the product features and technologies and tools

• Act like an owner by taking up a challenge, work towards reducing ambiguity, and break the work down into manageable tasks for the team

• You improve code quality, consistency, and adhere to best practices sharing and developing your expertise together with your team

• You use feedback as an opportunity for growth and keep learning and share your knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies that will help us innovate faster 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• You are an experienced Android developer who is eager to work with new technologies and deliver high-quality, clean, easily maintainable and testable code covered by automated tests

• You have several years of experience working in high performance teams and can independently drive end-to-end delivery, facilitate technical discussions and complex decision making

• You have a deep understanding of the Android SDK & App Architecture and design patterns like MVVM. Familiarity with Jetpack compose, RxJava, Coroutines and functional programming concepts of Kotlin is a bonus

• You have a good understanding of how to work with REST services and APIs. Familiarity with GraphQL is a bonus

• You have experience in content rendering, including expertise in optimizing and formatting content for various digital resolutions to ensure high-quality, visually appealing, and user-friendly presentations, as well as the ability to seamlessly handle diverse multimedia formats.

• You communicate effectively in English and are comfortable collaborating with different product, design, and engineering teams.
