The Team
You will join the Custody and Payments (CAP) Java Engineering Team. We are a group of Java backend engineers from a variety of backgrounds specialising in the development of blockchain oracles, we accomplish this through close interaction with our smart contract engineers. We also partner closely with our security teams to ensure client funds are secure at all times while they are under our safekeeping. Our main role is to facilitate fund movements, crypto and fiat, in both directions between clients and the Bullish platform, verifying the legitimacy of each transaction as we do so. We utilise our own private blockchain for all digital assets held on the exchange.
The Role
As a backend Java engineer in the team, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of our microservices, the most notable of which are our oracles. These oracles integrate with various fiat payment gateways, digital asset blockchains and transaction analytics platforms. We are a team that values technical excellence demonstrated through easy to read, secure and well-tested code. We are looking for highly motivated individuals that are quick learners with an interest in blockchain technology.

Roles/Responsibilities:
- Design, build, test and maintain reliable Java backend code.
- Support the onboarding of additional assets onto Bullish.
- Learn the Custody and Payments business domain
- Collaborate closely with product managers, project managers and other engineering teams.
Experience/Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Java backend engineer.
- Experience with Java 8+ features. Candidates must show proficiency in important classes/packages in the JDK especially but not limited to Java Collections and Concurrency.
- Strong understanding of TDD development approaches, able to write thorough unit-test cases.
- Hands-on familiarity with popular Java Frameworks such as Spring Boot/Micronaut, JUnit and Mockito.
- Hands on git, Docker, Kubernetes, JIRA, Confluence
- Understanding of messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ and Kafka.
- Good knowledge of API design and development.
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices.
Bonus:
- Familiarity with blockchain technologies.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform.
- Financial services experience.
