Senior Software Engineer, OR, AI & AIOps

First and foremost, this position requires senior level software engineer experience in Java and a background in scientific computation (OR, applied math, statistics, physics, material science, etc.) If you have these qualifications and are interested in developing them further at an exciting start-up, then this position is perfect for you.

Responsibilities

• Become a Java champion within the organization to assist and support in continuous improvement and refactoring efforts for our existing infrastructure
• Heavily engaged in the software development life cycle (research, design, experimentation, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance) to ensure stability and quality of the codebase 
• Research and implement best practices to enhance our OR & AI frameworks and AI/ML Ops infrastructure
• Ideate and apply novel methodologies and techniques to solve challenging problems in the logistics industry

Required qualifications

• At least an MS degree (PhD preferred) focused on scientific computing (OR, applied math, statistics, physics, material science, etc.)
• Background classwork or experience in optimization and machine learning
• Five or more years of industry experience working as a software engineer focused on backend, data, distributed systems and/or infrastructure
• Hands-on experience building, testing, deploying services in Java and Spring Boot
• Hands-on experience with Python
• Hands-on experience with Cloud Computing platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Recent experience with SQL (Relational Databases)

Nice to have

• Background in stochastic optimization (deterministic optimization background is required)
• Background knowledge about logistics
• Have a good understanding of concepts like concurrency and event driven architecture
• Experience with technologies like NoSQL (e.g. Redis, DynamoDB), Kafka, Elasticsearch
