A Better Opportunity
Our Accounting and Finance team is hiring for a proactive and motivated Senior Staff Accountant. This individual will enhance the accounting and control environment by analyzing and accounting for business changes with a financial statement impact or accounting policy impact. The focus of this position is general accounting, including working with a Shared Services team. This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in Better’s internal and external financial reporting. An instrumental hire as the company continues to scale, this individual will be expected to take on more responsibility at a rapid pace.
Responsibilities
- Participate in month end closing by taking ownership of entire financial statement line items of the P&L, including flux analyses and budget to actual analyses
- Collaborate with US and India team members to provide useful and necessary financial information
- Prepare journal entries to support daily and month end activities, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, cash, accruals, etc.
- Prepare account reconciliations
- Listen to, learn form, and partner with members of various departments to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information
- Aid in integrations between our ERP and additional software tools to modernize and scale the business
- Provide ad hoc analysis support to business leaders and key partnersÂ
Qualifications
- Degree in accounting, business or finance
- 2-3 years of experience in accounting
- Adaptable to multiple and frequent changes in business environment
- Proven expertise with Excel
- Experience with Netsuite preferred, but not required
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, without losing attention to detail
- Proactively review processes for improvement opportunities; never satisfied with the status quo
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
