About the TeamĀ
Rokuās New Products teams are responsible for architecting and developing products that are sold globally. We partner closely with our Devices Product teams to define new product requirements, as well as work with various external vendors to understand available and upcoming technologies. We also collaborate closely with other Roku Engineering teams to develop and integrate Roku OS features onto our platforms.
About the RoleĀ
This senior technical position requires an energetic and self-motivated individual with broad system architecture experience of consumer products, strong hands-on technical skills, and excellent communication skills to work cross functionally with other organizations (internal and external). This is a unique opportunity for a senior technical professional who enjoys a high-level of independence, visibility and responsibility.Ā
For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $329,000 - $393,000 annually.
Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.Ā This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.
What You'll Be Doing
- Innovate and drive future hardware architectures through collaboration with Product Management, technical teams, and external vendorsĀ
- Engage with SOC and component vendors to understand and influence their roadmapsĀ
- Work with SoC partners on performance profiling of different IP blocksĀ
- Own and manage an innovation roadmap for designing differentiation into Roku OS via the hardware selected for Rokuās devices Ā
- Collaborate with engineering teams across Roku to define opportunities to create differentiated experiences and the hardware functionality needed to realizeĀ
- Design and prototype hardware and software Proof of ConceptsĀ
- Keep up to date with the latest technology and market trendsĀ
- Participate in standards bodies to influence new standardsĀ
- Demonstrate the ability to dig deep to find solutions to challenging problems affecting our users
We're Excited If You Have
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent experience Ā
- 10+ years of experience in an embedded C/C++ software development role, ideally for streaming productsĀ
- Solid grasp of hardware and the manufacturing process
- In-depth understanding of Linux, tools, libraries, open source, and SOC developmentĀ
- Ability to see the big picture while focused on short-term objectives and deliverablesĀ
- Proven track record of success with embedded system development projects
