Senior System Software Engineer – AIOps

Established in 1996 the Lab is headquartered in India’s Silicon Valley and startup hub – Bengaluru with a strong presence in Pune and Hyderabad. Developers at ISDL deliver technology innovations across the entire Systems portfolio – z Systems Power / OpenPOWER Systems and Storage. The team here works across the entire stack from processor design firmware operating system to software defined storage. IBM Z is the world’s most powerful business platform. 68% of enterprise production workloads 80% of structured enterprise data and 55% of all enterprise transactions including more than 50% of the back-end transactions generated from mobile enterprise applications run on IBM Z. Before this backdrop our team is embarking on an exciting journey to usher in the era of AIOps in zSystems Software.

We are seeking a skilled developer to join our IBM development team. As part of our team you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality software products working with a variety of technologies and programming languages. The z Performance and Systems Test (PST) team is looking for an experienced developer with the following skills to deliver key capabilities to the market. The PST team ensures the new capabilities in our zAIOps portfolio undergo full e2e testing and provides environment to help create demonstration videos and assets for our products.

The zAIOps team is looking for developers who show the initiative and thrive at tackling problems. The AI landscape as a whole is rapid paced and comes with ever developing requirements which you as a developer would be required to help design and engineer solutions that innovate within that environment. This will include understanding AI principals with data manipulation and transformation prompt engineering and model validations as we look to build up high quality solutions.
Your main duties will include designing and implementing new features optimising and maintaining existing code and ensuring the software meets high-quality standards through testing and debugging. You will also work closely with other developers designers and product managers to ensure the software meets user needs.

• Works as part of a project team regularly communicating with project stakeholders on project progress and status.
• Work in a dynamic collaborative environment to understand requirements design code and test innovative AI solutions and demonstrate these solutions
• Integrate with other teams across IBM to identify and build AI solutions that infuse and incorporate into Z Software portfolio.
• Employ IBM’s Design Thinking to validate user scenarios to develop solutions with high performance security quality and stability.
• Performs root cause analysis to quickly identify and resolve issues.
• Document solution architectures design decisions implementation details and lessons learned. Create technical documentation white papers and best practice guides. Contribute to internal knowledge sharing initiatives and mentor new team members
• Collaborate with development teams to implement and iterate on POCs ensuring alignment with customer requirements and expectations.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 8 to 12 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge about ServiceNow installation and configuration is required including End to end portfolio Testers – Define workloads application needs scripts for repeatability Exercise test scenarios
• Test Automation experts to automate our PST environment setup maintenance and defined test cases
• Distributed skills: update/upgrade xLinux machines with OS distributions and new service remediate security vulnerabilities/failed scans. Install and configure new products (or new versions of products) including: ServiceNow ELK Splunk SMU zChatOps zDS ZLDA and other openshift-/docker-/k8s-based products.
• Z skills: knowledge of configuring/using any of the following products: zAPM Connect ZAA CICS MQ IMS zWIN CDP IZWS DWC WMLZ OMEGAMON.
• Development/Automation of new hybrid cloud applications: distributed applications that call zOS subsystems CICS CTG IMS MQ CTG DB2 etc. to drive workloads.
• Strong and independent analytics and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with git other source control practises and various development tools and IDE’s.
• Good communication skills and be able to work effectively in a global team environment.
• Able to guide a team of lesser experienced professionals.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with DevOps and Cloud computing – Docker Kuberenetes Openshift
• Agile Application Development & Scrum methodologies.
• Familiarity with z/OS and mainframe technologies.
• Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methodologies
• Familiar with cloud-based platforms and services
