Your Role:

As the Senior Systems Design Release Engineer - Seating in Faraday’s Vehicle Engineering Team, you will be responsible for leading the team that designs, releases and launches the complete seating system for Faraday vehicles. You will be part of the team that creates and executes unique world-class seating in terms of form, function, and durability.  You will utilize your expertise to develop as a full vehicle engineer – designing and delivering systems rather than just components as you work with a lean and agile team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design of automotive component parts in CATIA V5/V6.
  • Develop and execute seat system requirements.
  • Ensure that seat systems, features, and attributes meet customer expectations and enable delivery of high value customer experiences.
  • Ensure seats are design to and tested per required automotive certification/regulations.
  • Participate in the iterative process with the Faraday design/styling studio to deliver the optimal balance of form vs. function vs. cost.
  • Implement processes and material selections to achieve world class durability, reliability and fit & Finish of automotive interiors.
  • Complete and release seating components, sub-system and detail designs, utilizing a mix of in-house design and supplier engineering where required.
  • Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design.
  • Interact with large, global cross functional teams (Design Studio, Vehicle Engineering, safety, Homologation, Research, other seat & Restraints, suppliers, test facilities, etc.) to develop solutions and drive resolution to program seat issues, while meeting all program milestones and deliverables.
  • Launch and support Faraday seating systems in Faraday’s assembly facility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Faraday Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement groups to ensure seat system manufacturing and assembly feasibility and serviceability.
  • Responsible for technical documentation to include DFMEAs, DVP&R’s, PFMEA & Control plan( SC’s & CC’s).
  • Involved in definition for seat features and responsible for comfort development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical (BSME, BSEE) Engineering or relevant number of years of experience
  • 4+ years of experience in automotive design and development.
  • Intermediate Design, packaging, A-class surface and 3D modeling skills (CATIA V5/6 preferred).
  • Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, BOM management and specifications development.
  • Motivator that is organized and a team player that can offer solid solutions to quickly resolve challenging design issues with a creative passion for innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough design, packaging, A-class surface and 3D modeling skills in CATIA V5/V6 (6,000+ hours).
  • Senior level knowledge of modern seating, material finishes, injection mold tooling, plating, finishing, attachment schemes and assembly methodology.
  • Strong understanding of new and emerging technologies, products, and development methods to design a world-class consumer experience.
  • Multiple In-plant and/or program and vehicle launch experience.

Annual Salary Range:

($110K - $140K DOE), plus benefits and incentive plans
