Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Lead Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable as client-facing and will assist clients in preparing and filing accurate tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a commitment to staying up-to-date with changes in tax laws.

• Achieve filing goals on or before the established deadline, often with no need for revision.
• Use comprehensive tax knowledge to maximize benefits and deductions.
• Build relationships and encourage new business.
• Educate others on best practices for tax filing, preparation, and record-keeping.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Tax Preparation
• Prepare and review individual, business, and organizational tax returns.
• Ensure all returns comply with current tax laws and regulations.
• Calculate tax liabilities, deductions, and credits accurately.
• Actively prepare for major tax deadlines throughout the year.
2) Client Interaction
• Consult with clients to gather necessary financial and personal information.
• Answer client inquiries regarding tax preparation and filing.
• Provide advice on strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize returns.
3) Documentation and Compliance
• Organize and maintain financial records for accuracy.
• Verify client-provided data to ensure it meets legal requirements.
• File electronic and paper tax returns on behalf of clients.
4) Research and Updates:
• Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Advise clients on tax law changes that may affect them.
• Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
• Collaborate with others on the tax team to devise long-term tax plans and strategies.
Skills and Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Certified Tax Advisor or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred.
• CPA, EA, or JD is a plus; MST or advanced tax training preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive tax preparation experience, ideally in a public accounting or advisory firm.
• Familiarity with tax preparation software (e.g., TurboTax, Drake, ProConnect, etc.).
• Expertise in complex individual returns, pass-through entities, real estate, investment income, and multi-state returns.
• Committed to maintaining the highest level of ethics, integrity, and client confidentiality.
• Experience representing tax Advisors in administrative proceedings.
Skills:

• Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software (QuickBooks, Drake).
Location:
• This position is located onsite at our Sherman Oaks office.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
