The Senior Test Engineer - Durability & NVH is responsible for ensuring quality designs through comprehensive testing and validation. Specifically, we are looking for an individual that can develop and execute strategies to solve complex technical problems using the suite of tools available. The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge, a continuous learning mindset, and a proven track record of success. The vision for our test department is to provide high-fidelity test data that fosters a model based and data driven engineering culture.
This position works on a variety of components, materials, and products during all stages of the engineering process. Thermo King products have rotating equipment such as engines, compressors, belt systems, and fans that also must endure continuous road exposure. This requires an understanding of both NVH and durability to ensure quality designs.
The role collaborates closely with the simulation team to ensure test data is an integral part of the engineering decision making process.
This is an onsite role, located at our Minneapolis, MN facility. Relocation may be considered.

Base Compensation Range is $73,500 - $151,000 annually.

Core Responsibilities (others may be added):
- Develop and execute NVH and durability programs.
- Establish standardize test methods and load profiles.
- Align with modeling and simulation activities contributing to model correlation & validation.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineers, lab technicians, and other team members.
- Understand and communicate at all levels on test strategy, status, and simulation linkage.
- Provide guidance on overall lab direction, roadmaps, and capital improvements.
Education and Experience Required:
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
Skills and Knowledge:
Required
- Digital signal processing (formal education a plus)
- Shaker table experience
- Instrumentation expert - accelerometers, strain gauges, tachometers
- Understanding of accelerated testing
- Demonstrated success correlating simulation and test results
- Able to understand the differences and navigate both virtual and physical domains
Preferred
- FEA - static, modal, random, transient, thermal
- Automotive Experience
- Transport HVAC and refrigeration product knowledge
- Composites and plastics experience
Tools and Equipment:
- Data Acquisition: Simcenter SCADAS Mobile & XS, HBM EDAQ
- Software: Simcenter Testlab, HBM nCode, SimCenter 3D, MatLab, ANSYS, and more
- Facilities: Unit and Component Level Shaker Tables, Tensile & Torsion Load Frames, Sound Lab
