About the Role
As a Senior/Staff Computational Biologist dedicated to Assay Research in Proteomics, you will create and customize computational strategies that enable experimental methods for innovative protein biomarker discovery (including, but not limited to, mass spectrometry and immunoaffinity methods). You will leverage expertise in analytics and computational methods, coupled to a strong foundation in data-acquisition and wet lab techniques, to understand and improve assays relevant to characterizing protein signatures for the early detection of cancer.Ā
This strategy can include innovative data analysis pipelines, identification of unique protein features with a focus on functional information, and evaluation of emergent technologies that have the potential to improve our diagnostic tests. You will work closely with wet lab scientists, machine learning scientists, and other computational biologists to drive the iteration of proteomics assays while ultimately developing clinical assays that save patient lives.
Your contribution:
- Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to rapidly develop and optimize novel or existing experimental methods by analyzing data, generating hypotheses, and contributing to experimental design.Ā
 - Operate at the forefront of proteomics characterization techniques requiring mass spectrometry data generation (including DDA, DIA, PTMs, AP-MS) as well as immunoassays (ELISA, Olink, Luminex, MSD, flow cytometry).
 - Develop new bioinformatics pipelines and computational tools to extract actionable information from high-throughput proteomics datasets.
 - Implement quality control metrics to monitor assay performance, overcome preanalytical batch effects, and enable longitudinal proteomics studies.
 
Your background, perspective and experience:Ā
- PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as biochemistry, chemistry, computational biology, or bioinformatics.
 - 3+ years post-PhD experience in proteomics assay development or bioinformatics for biomarker discovery (diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or other biotechnology experience preferred, especially in the context of cancer biology).
 - Expertise in computational analysis of mass spectrometry-based proteomic datasets, as well as the tools and databases used to derive technical and biological insights. Experience in proteomic biomarker discovery a plus.
 - Strong computational and programming skills, including experience with Python or R statistical packages (Numpy, Matplotlib, Pandas) in a Linux working environment. Familiarity with cloud computing principles a plus.
 - Strong quantitative reasoning and statistical analysis skills, with a demonstrated ability to apply them effectively to relevant scientific problems.
 - Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate to both scientific and broader audiences.
 - Ability to work on a cross-functional team in a highly collaborative environment, working with both computational and experimental scientists.
