Type of Requisition: Regular Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: None Clearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: None Public Trust/Other Required: None Job Family: SCA Job Qualifications: Skills: Blueprints, Manual Welding, Welding Machines, Welding Procedures Certifications: None Experience: 2 + years of related experience US Citizenship Required: Yes Job Description: WELDER, COMBINATION, MAINTENANCE High School diploma and/or a technical vocational high school diploma 2+ years of shipboard experience required welding experience: 7018 stick carbon steel and stainless (SMAW) & (FCAW) carbon steel and stainless • Applies basic welding processes to join surface fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. • Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. • Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders. • Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates. • Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. • Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications. • Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced welders. • May serve as a team leader. • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. • Participates in special projects as required. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
