Title: Shop Associate
Department:Museum Shop
Reports To:Manager of Retail Operations and Museum Shop Manager
Job Type: Part-time | 25-30 Hours Per Week | Non-Exempt
Pay: $13.90/Hourly
Job Summary:
As a Shop Associate in the museum shop, you will focus on customer service, store operations, and inventory management. Your key tasks include greeting customers, assisting with inquiries, managing cash transactions, ensuring the POS system works, and keeping the shop clean. You'll also restock inventory, report low stock, coordinate reorders, process shipments, and collaborate with the team to manage online orders and merchandise arrivals to enhance the customer experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
• Greets customer and ascertains make, type and quality of merchandise desired
• Suggests selections that meet customer’s needs, and emphasizes selling points of article, such as quality and utility
• Processes sales transactions
• Create a positive experience for museum guests
• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with any questions they might have related to the museum, San Antonio, and surrounding areas.
OPERATIONS:
• Opens and closes store in a timely and efficient manner
• Audits cash drawers, resolves errors and discrepancies
• Ensures POS equipment is properly working and notify the manager(s) if problems arise
• Keeps the register area clean and organized
• Ensures that fixtures are dusted, clean and organized
INVENTORY:
• Restocks inventory and maintains displays according to current promotions
• Keeps informed about new merchandise and products for sale
• Alerts management of items that are low in stock and/or commonly requested by customers that are not currently in stock.
• Assists with light stock work and organization.
Additional Duties and responsibilities include:
• Coordinates with managers on reordering needs (i.e. popular merchandise & shop operating supplies).
• Helps Managers maintains upkeep of wholesale catalogue collection and back stock room inventory (Main Shop, 207, 315 areas).
• Receives shipments in Counterpoint.
• Will work on the sales floor as scheduled, assist customers, and resolve any customer service issues promptly and professionally.
• Coordinates and collaborates with the Museum Shop team to ensure online shipments are sent out in a safe & timely manner.
• Coordinates and collaborates with the Museum Shop team to ensure new/incoming merchandise is received in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma, college degree preferred
• Cash handling and retail experience, computer literate
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements of the position described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform successfully.
• Walking, bending, climbing, stooping, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
• Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
• Physical ability to climb stairs and work in a multi-level building.
