Shopify E-Commerce Engineer

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a highly skilled Shopify Engineer to design, develop, and maintain custom Shopify payment extension to support our point-of-sale financial products. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in e-commerce platforms and a passion for building scalable, robust software solutions. You will work closely with our engineering and product teams to deliver seamless and feature-rich integrations that improve the user experience and drive growth.

• Design & Develop Shopify Payment Extension: Build and maintain a custom Shopify payment extension that integrates with Shopify Checkout and Shopify Admin
• Navigate the Shopify Ecosystem: Responsible for managing the Koalafi-Shopify relationship and navigating the Shopify approval process for the payment extension
• Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, designers, and front-end developers to deliver cohesive and efficient solutions
• API Integrations: Work on API integrations between Shopify and our backend systems
• Upgrade & Maintenance for other e-commerce systems: Perform regular maintenance and upgrades to our other e-commerce platform plugins such as Magento and WooCommerce
• Support & Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing technical support, address bug reports, and implement feature requests
• Testing & Documentation: Write automated tests, perform debugging, and produce clear technical documentation for all developed solutions
• Installation Support: Work directly with merchants to help them install and use the new payment extension

About You

• 3+ years of experience in e-commerce development with a focus on Shopify
• Technical Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge of Shopify’s platform, Liquid templating language, and Shopify APIs
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and React.js or Vue.js
  • Experience with PHP, Python, or Ruby for server-side scripting
  • Experience working with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases
• CI/CD & Automation: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and deployment tools
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and debugging skills, with a track record of building efficient, scalable solutions
• Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience developing on Magento, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Familiarity with GraphQL APIs and headless e-commerce architectures
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
