Job Summary

AECOM is seeking remote or virtual candidates for a rewarding, career opportunity to support and be part of our successful munitions response program team. We seek a Site Geophysicist to support geophysical and advanced geophysical classification field services worldwide.

As a Site Geophysicist, you will support geophysical data collection needs wherever the need arises. You will support our geophysics staff to achieve program and project objectives at a high level of safety, quality and efficiency. AECOM seeks an individual who possesses an independent ability to problem-solve and persevere under harsh field conditions.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Utilize various types of geophysical instruments and ancillary components including high precision global navigation satellite systems, inertial motion sensors and software to control and integrate the geophysical system.
  • Manage and monitor the quality of geophysical data acquisition under the direction of project geophysicists from geophysical systems including advanced electromagnetic induction (EMI) instruments.
  • Utilize advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance. Work is performed with minimal direction.
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments. Responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area.
  • Conduct research and investigation work as required.
  • Plan and organize project studies.
  • Assist in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.
  • Perform complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.
  • May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.

Minimum Requirements
  • BS/BA Geology, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering and 6 years of relevant work experience in the environmental field.
  • Driver's license
  • Valid Passport
Preferred Qualifications
  • Field work experience or advanced degree and some exposure to field experiences required
  • Excellent communication skills, highly motivated and ability to work independently
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Trained
  • Fluent with Microsoft Word and Excel programs
  • Ability to travel to remote project sites for field work
  • Ability to self-direct and self-manage
  • Proven technical writing skills
  • Advanced degree
