Site Reliability Engineering Professional (Cassandra Database)

Introduction
This is a Cassandra Database Administrator position to work in the SRE team responsible for all infrastructure support for production environments of the IBM Software. Most of the activities are performed in Cassandra however experience in other NoSQL database offerings would be useful for this position. The professional will have the opportunity to be in touch with best practices techniques and tools in a collaborative team performing activities that includes design implementation maintenance and optimization of Cassandra database systems. Your Role and Responsibilities

• Provide DBA support on all aspects of databases administration including design and implement Cassandra database schemas tables and indexes based on application requirements and performance considerations.
• Respond to database incidents diagnose root causes and implement corrective actions to restore service availability.
• Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as multi-datacenter replication and backup/restore strategies. Conduct periodic failover and recovery testing to validate system resilience.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for database provisioning configuration management and monitoring.
• Participate in on-call rotation and follow established incident management procedures.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Proven experience as a Cassandra Database Administrator.
• Strong proficiency in CQL (Cassandra Query Language)
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python ) and automation tools (e.g. Ansible) for infrastructure management.
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts Kubernetes and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS IBM Cloud).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and optimize system performance.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with monitoring tools
• Understanding of the SRE concepts
• Experience of running Root Cause Analysis meetings
