Job Responsibilities:
Interpret Blueprints and Plans:
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
• Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of materials needed
Carpentry and Construction:
• Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
• Build and install cabinets, shelving, windows, doors, and trim.
• Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes.
Precision and Detail:
• Ensure all work is done with accuracy, meeting high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
• Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials.
Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
• Comply with building codes and regulations.
Team Collaboration:
• Work collaboratively with other carpenters, contractors, and construction workers.
• Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors and project managers regarding project progress and any issues that arise.
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a carpenter
• Proficient in using hand and power tools
• Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods, including installation and construction
• Ability to accurately read blueprints and technical drawings
• Sense of humor
• Good physical condition and stamina
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship or vocational training preferred
Skills:
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication abilities
Working Conditions:
• Work environments include both indoors & outdoor assignments depending on the project.
• May involve working at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines only on rare occurrences
