Job Description

This position is a key technical resource responsible for designing and delivering the appropriate architectures that support the vision for defining innovative solutions, leveraging new technologies and designing and architecting solutions meeting business goals.

This person provides guidance for the delivery of principles, policies, procedures, guidelines and standards to create and/or maintain the company's software applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership for specifying, designing, implementing, testing, deploying, and sustaining application software in a distributed, .NET-centric environment.
  • Leverage Werner policies, architectural frameworks, and commercial best practices to design and develop Architectures that satisfy enterprise scale requirements.
  • Create and maintain enterprise-wide reference architectures that includes the applicable documentation and diagrams (levels 0, 1, 2, 3) to effectively illustrate the different layers of the technology stack including the software, hardware, and communications.
  • Work with other architects specializing in network, data, application, solution, etc. in decomposing an enterprise architecture into the appropriate components and services for analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Nurture highly effective relationships with internal partners such as product management, technical teams, systems operations, and service and support.
  • Presents alternative solutions to product and technical leadership in solving a specific business problem or enabling business value.
  • Participation in the creation and maintenance of product and technology Roadmaps.
  • Support development of new standards, stated directions, and guidelines.
  • Provide thorough architecture documentation of all solutions, including application to customer technical requirements, and customer expectations to help ensure successful implementation.
  • Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of relevant technology stacks, security, cloud computing, industry direction, and trends.
  • Assists with assessments and provides recommendations on new technologies and techniques.
  • Applies functional knowledge and experience to significant business projects or processes.
  • Implement automated test cases to support code and project requirements for use with our Continuous Integration (CI) pipeline.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with software application development and architecture best practices and goals
  • Knowledge of best practices and experience with IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
  • Provides support to ensure problems are resolved in an expedient manner.
  • Work with management and practitioners, IT staff, partners and vendors to ensure maximum utilization of all IT resources.
  • Keeps management fully informed of all activities and problems within area of responsibility.
  • Leads/conducts detailed code-reviews and provides feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Assists in the diagnosis of people and system failures and aids in recovery.
  • Keeps abreast of company goals, methods, and procedures and of current developments in technology and available vendor-supplied products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Successfully operated in complex IT environments where use of modern, public cloud-based technologies (including PaaS/SaaS architectures) were common.
  • Use of Azure preferred.
  • Experience with C++, .NET Core
  • Experience with IDesign preferred
  • 7+ years of experience building and delivering production quality, scalable, secure, software systems
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
  • Must be committed to increasing and improving technical skills, methodologies and architectures for more effective and efficient relations with the current and future work force.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong debugging skills
  • Ability to organize and plan one's own work to provide for effective task performance and coordination of effort.
  • Ability to interact with a varied assortment of personalities within diverse team.
  • A thinker with proven ability to execute.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both business and technical teams
