Red Canyon Software seeking a Mid-level Software Assurance Engineer to join the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Sustainment Services (LGSS) program to add to our distinguished team to sustain and enhance the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS). The JPSS CGS is responsible for implementing JPSS Program command, control, and communications and data processing requirements for JPSS CGS-serviced missions. The JPSS is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation Program that acquires and distributes global environmental data from multiple polar-orbiting satellites, playing a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans, coasts, and space environments, which supports the Nation’s economy and protects life and property.Â
Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains the Software Assurance Plan.
- Creates process audit schedule.
- Monitors SW tracking, assists with escalation of activities, follows up on recommends corrective actions, and tracks non-compliance issues to closure.
- Participates in and tracks issues arising from self-inspection and independent reviews of software deliverables.
- Communicates quality-related issues and concerns to Task Area Leads (Key Personnel), the Program Manager, appropriate NOAA and NASA personnel, and other appropriate parties.
- Analyzes software quality, reports trends, and recommends action.
- Participates and recommends areas for continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Coordinates measurement of program in establishing, records, maintaining, reports, and using software assurance, management, and technical measures.
- Performs trending and analyses on metrics (quality metrics, defect metrics) and report.
- Monitors that software measurement data analysis is in conformance to documented analysis procedures.
- Analyzes software assurance measurement data that is collected.
- Confirms the project monitors and updates planned measurements to assure the software will meet or exceed performance and functionality requirements, and that constraints are satisfied.
- Monitors and track any performance or functionality requirements that are not being met or are at risk of not being met.
- Confirms that the project collects, tracks, and reports on the software volatility metrics.
- Analyzes software volatility measures to evaluate requirements stability as an early indicator of project problems.
- Conducts software process audits.
- Reviews quality data to ensure expected performance is met.
- Assists in corrective action plans.
- Ensures actions, issues, and improvement opportunities are being implemented.
- Reviews and analyzes the results of corrective actions and improvements
Required:
- Able to serve as a team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any project.
- Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university or- 7+ years in lieu of a degree.
- Perform quality control on team products - Strong analytical skills.
- Candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust and CAC (common access card).
- Experience working with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Insight, Confluence, Risk Register, Crucible, etc.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience working with asset management systems with database and workflow components.
- Experience working within a distributed virtual team environment, with proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to dynamically tailor communications effectively to different levels of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to foster strong relationships with coworkers and vendorsÂ
