Software Developer - Container Extensions - Waterford Office

Introduction
As a developer on the team you will be working with a global team on IBM’s flagship enterprise server – IBM Z. This includes providing the capabilities for customers use container technology expand their portfolio and take advantage of new and emerging workloads such as Artificial Intelligence. The IBM Z development team is a global team with talent based in multiple countries. Now we’re looking for additional developers to strengthen the capacity of the team and work together to better execute our product roadmap.

Your Role and Responsibilities
We’re seeking an exceptional entry level candidate who is eager to work with a global development team in research and integration of open-source technology. As a software developer you will be responsible for designing developing validating and optimizing end-to-end hardware and software integration support of IBM zCX Foundation for Red Hat OpenShift.

• Analyze existing and emerging technolgies for an integrated automation validation.
• Create a robust automation platform that can validate the foundational solutions across multiple architectures in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Optimize and fine-tune the platform with focus on AI worloads .
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate compiler optimizations with other components of the AI stack.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation in an agile environment.

***PLEASE NOTE*** – This position is based in our Waterford location and requires working onsite 3 days per week.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Familiarity with a variety of software engineering concepts including practices and procedures related to open source technologies.
• General software development test and/or debug skills.
• Basic Linux skills and usage of Linux operating systeem.
• Understanding of container techology components such as Docker CRIO Kubernetes Podman.
• Experience on one or more of the programming languages such as Java Python of Go

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• In-depth understanding of Linux OS and familiarity with the various distributions.
• Familiarity and/or usage of container image builds and deployment cross platform.
• Prior enterprise level software development life cycle and test experience using commonly used tools ( XML Bash shell Shell scripting Jenkins python pytest git IDE CI/CD automation Jira or bugzilla ) .
