Software Development Lead

DUTIES: BorgWarner Transmission Products, LLC seeks a Software Development Lead based out of our office at 3800 Automation Avenue, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position requires international and domestic travel, as needed, up to 10%.

Plan and manage the software development work and develop and deploy our technologies for key customer projects. Ensure software product deadlines and deliverables are achieved. Specify, design, develop, test, release, maintain and enhance embedded software solutions. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the development of embedded software. Demonstrate basic understanding of automobile drivetrain products and their functions (e.g. transmissions, all-wheel drive). Demonstrate basic understanding of ECU schematics. Define software release development schedules and detailed release scope. Plan and manage the software development work for assigned projects incompliance with the group's policies and processes. Define software release configurations. Manage any project software sub suppliers. Mentor software engineers supporting assigned projects. Identify and analyze sources of software requirements, specify software requirements, assign requirements to releases and iterations, baseline and release software requirements. Define, design, develop and verify solutions in software releases that comply with the software requirements and the software architecture. Write fluently to describe software design, theory and test results. Communicate with peers, supervisors and customers. Lead and actively seek collaboration with internal and external team members.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related and five years of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include: Experience with developing software using a Model-Based toolchain; experience with C programming language for embedded systems; experience with generating efficient C source code from model based designs; experience with model and source code debugging skills; experience with developing and verifying software to a comprehensive software process; experience working with network protocols (e.g. CAN) and associated tools; experience with Software Configuration, Release and Change Management; and experience with Root Cause Analysis.

International and domestic travel required, as needed, up to 10%.
