The Role

The Solutions Engineering team at SUSE empowers customers to run their business applications on SUSE solutions in the cloud. We're looking for an engineer who wants to join us in publishing, maintaining, and expanding our cloud offerings. We're looking for someone who can also help us optimize open-source projects for SUSE platforms. Come take the next step of your career growth with us!

What you'll do

• Collaborate with other engineers and architects to ensure that supported upstream community projects are deployable and run efficiently on SUSE supported platforms.
• Develop and maintain internal and customer facing products and services.
• Participate in technical design and code review processes
• Contribute to existing documentation and/or educational content based on product requirements and user feedback
• Contribute to maintaining a positive, healthy and inclusive learning culture

What you'll bring

• Experience developing applications using one or more general programming languages (e.g. Python, Go) utilizing git-based source control management tools
• Expertise with cloud native concepts and container technology
• Experience developing software using Linux-based operating systems (e.g. openSUSE)
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a remote team
• A strong sense of ownership, accountability, transparency, and drive
• At least two years of experience developing software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Bonus Points

• Experience using services from one or more of the "Big 3" Cloud Service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with packaging rpms
• Experience working with and contributing to open-source communities
• Passion about emerging technologies such as A.I.
