General Summary:
Unum is looking to Software Engineer to their Products Journey team. This person will be part of an Agile Development team tasked with building solutions in C# with SQL Server on the back end. This will be a very data heavy environment utilizing Artificial Intelligence to help with decision making and Automation (C#, .Net). You will be working with a team, helping to build out new products, as well as product enhancements. You will work closely with other Software Engineers, as well as Business Analysts and testers.
You will ensure software is delivered to high quality standards by collaborating with your agile team members and by leveraging unit testing and continuous integration. You will also participate in the estimation of work required to deliver software features.
This is a collaborative team who will help Unum as we transition to a more digital and automated environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing features for the existing portfolio of applications for a business area
• Responsible for communication and collaboration within the team
• Design, codes, configures, unit tests, maintains, and documents software deliverables using agreed upon standards and tools. Participates in sizing and estimation activities within the agile team.
• Participates in daily Scrum Meetings to discuss progress made and planned progress for the coming day
• Participates in paired programming and sprint retrospectives; ensuring their ideas for team continuous improvement are communicated so that the overall process and team can improve sprint by sprint and readily receives feedback for self-improvement. May lead parts of same.
• Demonstrates an ability to ask questions and show growth in the role
• Automates testing of software to industry standards of software automation ensuring very high quality application/solution delivery and efficient regression of existing features
• Thinks with the mind of the end customer at all times, ensuring solutions seek to improve the customer experience and delight their customers.
Job Specifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science is preferred, or equivalent relevant business experience
• 2+ years experience with demonstrated success at the Associate level in software development and software development practices or equivalent experience
• Takes a logical, analytical approach to problem solving and pays close attention to detail
• Knowledge of Agile Development Methodologies
• Self-motivated and results oriented
• Comfortable asking questions as well as shows the ability to learn from them.
• Strong team player; able to work effectively within a team and more broadly with people from a variety of backgrounds and areas across the organization.
• C#, SQL Server, .NET, XML, Data Transferring (ETL), JSON, GIT, AZURE DevOps (nice to have), OOD, AI, and Automation.
