Software Engineer II

We are seeking a Software Engineer II t o join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and the planet.
What you get to do:

• Collaborate closely with your teammates to develop and deliver quality software solutions that help educate and motivate people to save energy and reduce their carbon footprints
• Help own machine learning services from end-to-end, including feature engineering and deployment and monitoring of analytic models
• Partner with developers and data scientists across the Platform Analytics group to continue to innovate the core analytic solutions Uplight provides for energy consumers

What you will contribute:

• You will be a software engineer within the Platform Analytics group, focused on designing and building analytic services that are core to Uplight's mission of helping energy consumers understand and reduce their energy usage and carbon footprint.

What you bring to Uplight:

• You enjoy collaborating with team members to solve technical problems and are excited to be part of a team
• People who succeed in this role can demonstrate technical fundamentals in software, with a strong desire to learn the details around the machine learning life-cycle
• Mid-level Python programming abilities are important, and you will likely also need to leverage other technologies such as FastAPI, Terraform, and CI/CD tools
• Experience developing and deploying services in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, etc.)
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, best practices around writing unit and functional tests, and handling large data are also important

Bonus points:

• Knowledge of the North American utility field and/or energy data
• Experience with ETL and data pipelines (Uplight currently uses Airflow, Spark, and Databricks for data processing)
• Exposure to deploying machine learning models into production, as well as the entire ML life-cycle

Salary Range: $98,000 - $120,000
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual base compensation range is listed above. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
