What is the key purpose of a Software Engineer?

As a Software Engineer in the Infrastructure Engineering R&D group, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining one of the largest real-time high-scale operations in the world. You'll have end-to-end ownership over our services, collaborating with a team of bright software engineers to directly influence how billions of people discover the internet.

What skills and qualifications do I need?

For this role, it is essential that you have:

• 5+ years of programming experience in Java or equivalent Object-Oriented language
• Experience developing large-scale distributed systems
• Deep understanding of strong Computer Science fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, systems, applications programming, and multithreading programming
• Production systems understanding
• Experience with SQL and No-SQL databases
• High proficiency in a Linux environment
• Proven ability to work effectively across multiple teams
• BS.c in computer science or equivalent experience

Nice to have:

• Experience in Big Data tools
• Knowledge in algorithms, data mining, and machine learning

What will I be doing on a day-to-day basis?

As a Software Engineer, you will:

• Develop and maintain one of the largest real-time high-scale operations in the world, supporting over 1.4B users and >500,000 requests per second, with 150TB of new data every day
• Own the end-to-end process: design, develop, deploy, measure, and maintain our services
• Solve production issues in the framework code
• Collaborate closely with a team of bright software engineers
• Directly influence the way billions of people discover the internet
• Roll out custom solutions such as Cassandra compaction strategy, Kafka consumer, and metrics pipeline Implement anomaly detection engines and authentication services
