Software QA Lead

General Summary 

The Software QA Lead will develop and implement processes to ensure Penumbra products are as high-quality and bug-free as possible. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

•Develop and execute test cases, plans and procedures. * 

•Assists junior level team members and reviews their work to ensure they are following proper standard QA procedures. * 

•Select, manage, train and develop peers and junior team members. Establish objectives and assignments and provide ongoing feedback through performance reviews and development plans. * 

•Acts as primary point of contact and oversees the work of all outside QA contractors and escalates critical issues in the software. * 

•Works collaboratively with the Software R&D Engineering team and the Quality team to develop and enhance the QA processes where appropriate for Penumbra products. * 

•Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures. * 

•Understand relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company. * 

•Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures. * 

•Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications 

Minimum education and experience: 

•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience as a software QA tester, or equivalent combination of education and experience 

Additional qualifications: 

•Experience with software development required. 

•Medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industry experience desired. 

•Ability to work in a fast-paced rapid-iteration environment. 

•Ability to self-organize and prioritize work with excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. 

•Ability to work within a collaborative team environment. 

•Strong troubleshooting and QA technical skills. 

•Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. 

•High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 

•Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

Location and Salary

Alameda, CA

$108,000 to $151,000

Working Conditions 

•General office environment 

•Business travel less than 5% 

•Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds 

•Willingness and ability to work on site. 

•Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens 

•Must be able to move between buildings and floors. 

•Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day. 

•Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets. 

•Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed. 

•Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.
