The Hartford is seeking a Solution Architect to join the Small Commercial Line of Business and help build our Site Reliability, Performance Engineering and Containerization Strategies. If you are a passionate technical leader with a desire to never stop learning and looking to stay on top of the latest trends in emerging technologies such as APIs, Microservices, Cloud technologies, SaaS solutions, and more, this position is for you.

This is a technical leadership position which will use of best-in-class software engineering standards and design practices for instrumenting code and application technology stack to enable the generation of relevant metrics on overall technology health. Build a practice and apply your knowledge to transforming the small commercial application portfolio. Responsible for developing end-to-end high performance and highly reliable applications as we employ our cloud strategy. Partner with our cloud engineering and enterprise architecture organizations to maintain and refine enterprise standards within our portfolio.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Progressively design preventative controls and drive increased automation and self-healing capabilities.
  • Serve as liaison to software engineering to help determine containerization strategy
  • Clear understanding of cloud and container deployment architectures including building cloud-native applications and container orchestration systems.
  • Simplification across the Small Commercial technology stack without adding technical complexity.
  • SME with extensive experience in Cloud Native technologies like Microservices, Containerization and Container Orchestration (Docker Containers, Kubernetes), Service Meshes, SME with extensive experience in Cloud Native technologies like Microservices, Containerization and Container Orchestration (Docker Containers, Kubernetes), Service Meshes, Serverless and Progressive Delivery
  • Serverless and Progressive Delivery
  • Excellent knowledge of IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, Public/Private/Hybrid clouds, and services
  • Demonstrable experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise workloads to the cloud
  • Strong solution architecture orientation to enable expedient troubleshooting, issue resolution and root cause removal in a hybrid cloud environment.

Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing robust enterprise level solutions with a broad understanding of traditional and modern software technology frameworks, platforms, vendor software solutions, development tools, and processes.
  • experience designing and implementing containerization technologies.
  • AWS Certification a plus.
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions utilizing Microservices or API-based integrations with clear understanding of JSON, REST and HTTP standards.
  • Clear understanding of cloud, hybrid cloud, and container deployment architectures including building cloud-ready applications and container orchestration systems.
  • Experience working with agile development teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills with ability to effectively communicate solution recommendations and influence key stakeholders.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
