The Solutions Consultant is a key pre-sales role within IBM supporting cross-industry pursuits across Cloud Data & AI Business Applications and Application Operations/Managed Services. This role focuses on shaping deliverable competitive and scalable solutions that meet client requirements across sectors. We are seeking a technically capable and commercially aware pre-sales professional with hands-on experience in RUN solutions Managed Services AMS models including cloud-native operations. The ideal candidate brings solid client-facing capability the ability to translate requirements into structured solution components and foundational experience working on deals in a pre-sales capacity. This position works closely with sales delivery architects and SMEs to support opportunity qualification structure solutions create pricing inputs and prepare compelling proposal content.
The position reports directly to the Head of Solutions for ANZ working closely with Sector leaders sales teams client partners and Service lines contributing actively and hands-on throughout opportunity development to strengthen IBM’s presence across key industries.
Your Roles and Responsibilities*
- Support pre-sales cycles for opportunities across Cloud Data & AI Business Applications and Managed Services ensuring solutions align to client requirements and IBM’s delivery capabilities and industry best practices while maintaining competitiveness and feasibility.
- Contribute to shaping pursuit strategy with sales delivery and SMEs ensuring solutions are competitive commercially viable and operationally feasible.
- Support the design of RUN Managed Services and AMS solutions—including delivery models service structures SLAs resource models support models and tooling approaches.
- Develop solution artefacts such as service descriptions delivery frameworks operational models governance structures and pricing inputs.
- Participate in RFI/RFP/RFQ responses ensuring clarity compliance high-quality writing and alignment to evaluation criteria.
- Support cost modelling rate card alignment BOM inputs and scenario modelling in collaboration with Service Lines and Solution Leads.
- Conduct basic competitive analysis identifying differentiators against market providers in cloud AMS and managed operations.
- Prepare presentation materials and contribute to orals preparation communicating solution elements in a clear and structured manner.
- Stay current with emerging technologies AMS/Managed Services delivery trends automation tools and operations practices
* Pre-Sales Experience: Demonstrated experience contributing to pre-sales pursuits RFx responses or client proposals across technology service.
* Managed Services Expertise: Working knowledge of Managed Services AMS support operations or RUN delivery models (L1–L4 support service towers SLAs ticketing incident/problem management)
* RUN solutions Expertise: Experience in designing end-to-end AMS/AO solutions including delivery models governance timelines and service coverage. Help Develop reusable solution components templates and accelerators to streamline future pursuits
* Client-Facing Skills:Â Ability to communicate with clients understand high-level requirements and present solution elements clearly
* Commercial Understanding: Foundational understanding of pricing resource models rate cards support models and cost drivers in Managed Services and AMS deals
* Collaboration: Experience working with sales delivery architects and SMEs in fast paced opportunity cycles.
Education and Technical Expertise:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science Information Systems Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Exposure to multi-year Managed Services contracts or AMS transitions.
- Technical Certifications : At least one relevant certification (e.g. Azure AWS GCP ITIL DevOps ServiceNow Dynamics SAP Red Hat). Multiple certifications are highly desirable.
- Strong documentation and proposal skills and ability to structure solution content contribute to bid responses and prepare PowerPoint deliverables.
- Experience working with cross-sector clients across industries such as financial services utilities retail healthcare or manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for developing polished orals presentations and solution narratives. Comfortable working with spreadsheets for cost inputs scenario modelling and commercial support.
- Hands-on capability in one technical domain—preferably cloud operations application support integration automation or monitoring/management tooling.
- Ability to translate technical requirements into deliverable solution constructs and articulate technical outcomes in non-technical language.
