Solutions Engineer

Observable is redefining how businesses create and share visualizations by giving developers the tools they need to create their best dashboards, applications, and reports. Our open-source Observable Framework allows developers to build dashboards locally while our secure hosting service makes it easy for teams to share data apps and discover deeper insights together. We have a large community of data practitioners who love Observable, and we are building on this success to bring Observable to more teams and businesses of all sizes.

Observable is seeking a Solutions Engineer to demo the product to prospective customers, build applications with Observable Framework, contribute to our product dogfooding, and demonstrate the art of the possible our open-source libraries.

What you will do

• Demo the Observable product suite, e.g. Observable Notebooks, Observable Framework, Observable Plot, D3 and the Observable Cloud.
• Help customers succeed by helping them to build their first Observable applications, from prototype to production.
• Work on internal applications to both help business operations and dogfood the product.
• Build public examples to showcase Framework and make it easy for others to replicate them.

Some of the technology we use

• This role relies heavily on using Observable Framework, though experience with React is helpful.
• Visualization: D3, Observable Plot, Mosaic, Deck.gl
• Databases: DuckDB, Snowflake, Postgres
• Code: Node, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, Python, R

What you will bring

• 8+ years building data applications with code
• Experience working directly with customers in pre-sales motions
• An enthusiasm for data, visualization, and technology
