Position Summary
We are seeking a talented and experiencedSous Chefto join our team at Vitality Court in Allen, TX. As the Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in leading our Culinary Team, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly, meals are prepared to the highest standards, and our residents enjoy exceptional dining experiences. You’ll work closely with the Culinary Experience Director while stepping into a leadership role when needed.
Responsibilities
• Prepare nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing meals in line with Vitality menus, recipes, and physician diet orders.
• Ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, portion control, and plate presentation standards.
• Maintain inventory, order supplies, and ensure staple items are consistently stocked.
• Supervise and support culinary team members, fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment.
• Direct daily operations of the kitchen and dining services in the absence of the Culinary Experience Director.
• Oversee preparation of serving carts and ensure timely, attractive service.
• Maintain proper food labeling, dating, storage, and leftover procedures.
• Ensure completion of all required temperature and sanitation logs.
• Follow Vitality standards of cleaning, including the preparation and serving areas, pots and pans, kitchen surfaces, walls, and floors using appropriate cleaning schedules.
• Perform administrative duties such as ordering, receiving, inventory control, and staffing support.
• Provide guidance to servers and dining staff to ensure excellent resident experiences.
• Resolve resident-related food concerns with professionalism and care.
• Ensure all Culinary staff maintain proper, clean, and professional uniforms.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Experience Director.
Skills and Qualifications
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Culinary Arts degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and compliance with state health requirements.
• Current Food Handler’s Permit required.
• Fine dining, catering, or menu planning experience a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Demands include Standing, Walking, Sitting, Bending, Reaching, Pushing, Pulling, Climbing Stairs, Grasping, Manual Dexterity, Vision Acuity, Color Vision, Talking, Hearing, Tasting/Smelling, and Feeling.
The weight determined to be appropriate for a Sous Chef to lift with or without reasonable accommodations is up to 100 lbs.
