Our West University audience had always been so supportive of us, so we branched out and created a place unique to their own neighborhood. We are nestled in the old JMH No 5 Grocery Store that served the West U community for 60 years. Despite popular belief, we are a stand alone restaurant outside of our sister restaurant Tiny Boxwoods. We have the same bones and team but a menu and feel of its own. Tiny Boxwoods Productions Sous Chef care deeply about our culture and is responsible for all food production. Maintains the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards while providing and assisting Executive Chef with effective leadership of the kitchen staff. The primary job duties and responsibilities of being of a Sous Chef include but are not limited to the following: β€’ Planning and directing food preparation in a kitchen β€’ Assists Executive Chef in maintaining foods cost β€’ Assists Executive Chef in maintaining labor costs β€’ Ability to manage and direct a team of cooks and dishwashers β€’ Must be able to prep and work all stations during a shift β€’ Ability to work AM or PM shift when called upon regardless of regular schedule β€’ Keep an eye out for problems that arise in the kitchen β€’ Seizing control of a situation at a moment’s notice β€’ Maintain health code standards β€’ Maintain all checklists β€’ Assists with ordering β€’ Aides Executive Chef in creating daily specials and new menu planning β€’ Participates in the hiring process by reviewing applicants and scheduling interviews β€’ Maintains a clean and organized kitchen on a daily basis β€’ Enforce all Tiny Boxwoods Productions handbook standards β€’ Models the Tiny Boxwoods Productions culture at all times β€’ Clear communication skills with both management teams and staff β€’ Responds to e-mails and correspondence quickly and efficiently β€’ Consistent communication via daily entries in Manager Logs β€’ Attends weekly meetings with all levels of management β€’ Meets deadlines and completes projects as assigned β€’ Provide incentives for staff members to go above and beyond the expectations β€’ Demonstrates teamwork β€’ Must be self-motivated and eager to assist wherever needed β€’ Maintains consistency in a fast-paced environment β€’ Close attention to detail β€’ Performs other duties and special projects as assigned Qualifications Tiny Boxwoods Productions require the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the position of Sous Chef. Qualifications include: β€’ TABC Certified β€’ Texas Food Handlers certificate β€’ Excellent customer service skills β€’ Good memory β€’ Flexible availability in scheduling β€’ Capacity to multitask β€’ Ability to work as part of a team β€’ Sanitation certificate β€’ Degree in culinary or equivalent β€’ 3-5 years of experience as a Sous Chef in a similar environment Working Conditions The incumbent will be working in a restaurant setting, on the floor with guests, in the kitchen and dish area. Potential hazards include but are not limited to cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required. Supervisory Responsibility This position is responsible for managing and supervising the daily tasks of back-of-house staff. Physical Requirements The incumbent is required to constantly move around the kitchen. Incumbent is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires the ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and must have ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Job Type: Full-time Work Location: In person
