Job Description
Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee the daily operations of the kitchen and ensure the highest quality of food production. This is a leadership role that requires strong culinary skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Duties:
- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and recipe development
- Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and proper sanitation practices
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to create innovative and seasonal menus
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to established recipes and quality standards
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory control
- Help maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Oversee food production during service hours to ensure timely delivery of meals
- Assist in managing kitchen expenses and maintaining budgetary guidelines
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a leadership role within the culinary industry, preferably as a Sous Chef or similar position
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and inventory management
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Proficient in menu planning and recipe development
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff, management, and suppliers
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in restaurant management or working in a high-volume establishment
- Culinary degree or certification from an accredited culinary school
