We’re seeking a skilled and motivatedSous Chef with strong expertise in Mexican cookingto help lead our culinary team and maintain the high standards that define the Maria Bonita experience. About the Role As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in daily kitchen operations, helping to manage the culinary team, maintain food consistency and quality, and ensure smooth and efficient service. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented chef who is passionate aboutMexican cuisine, thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, and is ready to support and grow under the guidance of our Executive Chef. Key Responsibilities • Support the Executive Chef in managing and training kitchen staff • Supervise line operations and ensure consistent food quality and presentation • Assist in developing and executing seasonal and special event menus rooted in Mexican tradition • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout the kitchen • Help manage inventory, ordering, and food prep for daily service • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations • Step in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment Qualifications • 3+ years of experience in a professional kitchen, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role • Extensive knowledge of Mexican cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques • Passion for traditional and contemporary interpretations of regional Mexican dishes • Proven ability to lead and inspire a kitchen team • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Flexible schedule — availability on nights, weekends, and holidays is required • ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety credentials • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred Benefits • Competitive salary + performance-based bonuses • Paid time off • Employee meals • Creative input on menu items and specials • Growth opportunities in a supportive and dynamic environment Job Type:Full-time Pay:Based on experience Benefits: • Flexible schedule • Paid time off Language: • English and Spanish (Required) Ability to Commute: • San Antonio, TX 78229 (Required) Job Type: Full-time Shift: • Day shift • Evening shift • Morning shift Experience: • cooking: 2 years (Required) • Kitchen management: 2 years (Required) Language: • Spanish and English (Required) Ability to Commute: • San Antonio, TX 78229 (Required) Ability to Relocate: • San Antonio, TX 78229: Relocate before starting work (Preferred) Work Location: In person
