Reporting to the Executive Chef, you’ll play a vital leadership role in kitchen operations β€” bringing both creativity and precision to our evolving menu. You'll lead by example, support staff development, and help deliver standout dining moments that reflect the energy and artistry of NYC. Key Responsibilities Culinary Execution β€’ Prepare high-quality dishes with consistency, precision, and attention to plating β€’ Lead designated kitchen stations during service in a high-volume setting Kitchen Operations β€’ Manage daily kitchen flow, expedite tickets, and maintain an organized line β€’ Ensure timely service, with ticket times aligned to operational standards Leadership & Team Development β€’ Supervise, mentor, and support line cooks, prep staff, and other kitchen team members β€’ Lead daily line-ups, manage performance, and foster a positive kitchen culture Staffing & Training β€’ Interview, hire, and onboard new culinary team members β€’ Identify and develop high-potential employees through hands-on coaching Menu Innovation β€’ Assist in seasonal menu planning and execution β€’ Support training and rollout of new menu items Inventory & Cost Control β€’ Monitor stock levels, place food orders, and manage vendor relationships β€’ Ensure proper stock rotation and minimize waste to control food cost Administrative Support β€’ Assist with scheduling, labor tracking, payroll entry, and compliance tasks β€’ Support the Executive Chef in achieving both culinary and financial goals Compliance & Safety β€’ Maintain strict food safety standards and uphold cleanliness across all workstations β€’ Ensure full compliance with local health codes and sanitation regulations Problem Solving β€’ Remain calm and effective during high-pressure situations β€’ Lead the team through unexpected challenges while maintaining service standards Qualifications β€’ 3+ years of experience in a full-service, high-volume kitchen (line cook or sous chef) β€’ Culinary degree or accredited certification required β€’ Strong culinary technique, including knife skills and use of modern kitchen equipment β€’ Prior experience supervising kitchen staff; union experience preferred β€’ In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices β€’ Strong leadership and communication skills with a team-first mindset β€’ Highly organized, reliable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment β€’ Flexible schedule with availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Physical Requirements β€’ Regular standing, walking, speaking, and hearing β€’ Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs frequently If you're hungry to lead, eager to grow, and ready to help redefine the culinary experience in one of NYC’s most vibrant locations, we invite you to apply and bring your passion to 501 Lexington.
