Overview:
The New York Athletic Club, a platinum- and emerald-rated private club, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Sous Chef. The Senior Sous Chef will be responsible for overseeing food preparation, directly supporting the Executive Chef in executing an elevated fine-dining culinary program.
This role encompasses, at various times, food preparation for: haute cuisine brunch, luncheon, and dinner service in our formal Main Dining Room; refined casual Classic American/elevated pub fare in our Taproom; and banquet service for up to 400. The ideal candidate is an experienced and highly-skilled culinary professional with a background in team management, large-scale food preparation, and exacting service standards.
Essential Functions:
β’ Prepare food to meet the specification of members/guests in a timely manner.
β’ Assist with menu planning, and produce high quality plates, including both design and taste.
β’ Offer suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchenβs performance.
β’ Manage the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality.
β’ Reports all unsafe working conditions, operational needs and equipment to the Executive Chef or management.
β’ Ensure that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
β’ Maintain high standards of quality and appearance for all food prepared and served.
β’ Properly store all food, which must be covered, dated, and rotated daily to ensure proper portion control and quality.
β’ Maintain workstation and ensure kitchen equipment is clean, organized, and sanitized.
β’ Maintains neat professional appearance and always observes personal cleanliness rules.
β’ Schedule staff shifts.
β’ Train new employees.
β’ The ability to work hands on.
β’ Perform other related duties, task, and responsibilities as required or apparent.
Qualifications and Experience:
β’ Extensive knowledge of the Culinary Arts.
β’ Experience in a high-volume fine dining restaurant or private club.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
