Sous Chef – Italian Cuisine Focus

Job Overview This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated chef at the start of their career who is eager to develop their craft, contribute creative ideas, and take ownership in a small kitchen environment. Working closely with the Owner, you will have the chance to influence menu design, experiment with seasonal ingredients, and hone your skills in both daily service and event catering. Responsibilities • Collaborate with the Owner on menu development, with a strong emphasis on Italian-inspired seasonal dishes. • Execute meal preparation and cooking with consistency and attention to detail. • Maintain the highest standards of kitchen cleanliness, safety, and organization. • Assist with baking and dessert preparation (baking skills a plus). • Monitor inventory, manage stock rotation, and assist with supply ordering. • Support the Events team during special activations, ensuring timely service and elegant presentation. • Work collaboratively with café staff to ensure smooth service. • Contribute to a positive, creative, and team-oriented kitchen culture. Qualifications • Foundational culinary training or professional kitchen experience (Italian cuisine experience highly preferred). • Strong interest in Italian cooking techniques, flavors, and traditions. • Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. • Baking or pastry knowledge is a plus. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in a fast-paced environment. • Creative mindset and willingness to learn new techniques. • A collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills. • Flexibility to support events and adapt to the café’s evolving needs.
