Overview
Republic Texas Tavern is seeking a passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a background in food production and kitchen management, with experience in upscale dining. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining exceptional standards of food safety and service.
Duties
• Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning and development, ensuring creativity and seasonal relevance.
• Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient food preparation and presentation.
• Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste.
• Oversee food production processes, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion control, and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment while adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during peak hours.
• Participate in catering events as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
• Conduct regular inspections of food handling practices to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
Skills
• Proven experience in the culinary field with a focus on fine dining or catering.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
• Proficient in menu planning, inventory management, and cost control strategies.
• Experience in supervising kitchen operations with an emphasis on quality assurance.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with both kitchen and service staff.
