Special Education Teacher

Special Education Teacher Joan Fenichel Therapeutic Nursery is seeking teachers to work in our preschool program. Responsibilities for certified Special Ed teacher include but are not limited to: • Assess developmental functioning and learning skills of students based on IEP goals utilizing appropriate assessment tools • Write annual goals, behavioral objectives and intervention strategies corresponding with assessment in consultation with other disciplines • Evaluate student progress on an on-going basis • Prepare weekly lesson plans according to a planned sequence with IEP goals and plan/share with teacher assistants • Instruct and supervise teacher assistants and substitute teacher assistants in appropriate techniques to work effectively with children • Participates in program planning and interdisciplinary team meetings Education: • Bachelor’s degree required. • Must have NYS Student with Disabilities teaching certification (Birth-Grades 2) Skills and/or Experience Required: • Prior experience working with school age children (preferably special needs population or a similar combination of work and experience) • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
