With three campuses in central San Antonio, we serve approximately 1,100 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, providing educational alternatives and pathways for at-risk youth.
Summary
George Gervin Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated ARD Facilitator to support the development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations. The ARD Facilitator plays a key role in coordinating ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) committee meetings, ensuring meaningful collaboration among team members, and fostering successful student outcomes.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate and facilitate ARD meetings to ensure compliance with IDEA, TEA guidelines, and district policies.
• Work collaboratively with special education staff, general education teachers, parents, and related service providers to develop appropriate IEPs for students.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of ARD meetings, including preparation and distribution of paperwork before and after meetings.
• Review student records and evaluation data to guide ARD committee decisions.
• Provide guidance and technical support to school staff and parents regarding special education procedures and legal requirements.
• Monitor implementation of IEPs and provide follow-up support to ensure services and accommodations are being delivered effectively.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions and documentation.
• Serve as a liaison between campuses and the Special Education Department.
• Stay current with changes in special education law and best practices through ongoing professional development.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of IDEA, ADA, and TEA guidelines.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
• Proficiency in using electronic IEP systems and standard office software.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
Requirements
• Education and Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in education or related field preferred.
• Texas Teacher Certification with Special Education endorsement required.
• Mid-management or Educational Diagnostician certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in special education required.
• Prior experience facilitating ARD meetings strongly preferred.
• Experience with state accountability and compliance monitoring is a plus.
