Sports/Multimedia Journalist

WACH is looking for a Sports/Multi-Media Journalist. The ideal candidate will be able to report, produce and shoot/edit for daily sports segments, along with performing other duties as assigned by the news managers. Candidate will also actively engage our digital audience through relevant posts on key social media platforms. Your responsibilities as a Sports/MMJ will include reporting, shooting, and editing news stories, enterprising story ideas, developing contacts, as well as other responsibilities as assigned. You will be expected to produce daily content on a variety of platforms including the internet, social networking sites and mobile phones, in addition to television. It is important to have strong writing skills and to have knowledge of current sporting events.

Skills and Experience:

• Sharp news judgment
• The ability to tell an NPPA style story
• Excellent technical skills
• The ability to work well independently
• Must have and maintain a valid license and a good driving record
• Ability to post on social media
• Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to maintain an active social media presence to build WACH's brand and solicit original story ideas
• A self-starter and who can generate his or her own story ideas on a daily basis

Requirements and Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years reporting experience is required
• Experience with live shots is required
• Experience with Live-U is a plus
