Job Description

We are looking for a SQL Database Administrator to develop, implement, administer, and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of Meriplex and their clients database. This position implements data models, database designs, data access and table maintenance codes. Additionally, they resolve database performance and capacity issues aw well as replication and other distributed data issues.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties: 

  • Create, or support creation of, require reports in response to business user needs.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Exercise independent judgment to determine the appropriate course of action to be taken based on the analysis performed and all workable solutions.
  • Assists in the development of full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Document all analysis and actions. This data is used by management to determine resource requirements and allocations and/or software enhancements necessary and/or customer training curriculum and/or other factors critical to company’s operation.
  • Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.
  • Work is of limited to moderate scope typically of moderately complex projects and assignments and contributing to the completion of team milestones.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders and clients on an ongoing basis.
  • Follows standard practices and procedures.
  • Performs analysis of data and situations with a variety of factors.
  • Normally receives specific instructions on all work.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones. Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity.
  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
  • Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems.
  • Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
  • Perform database transaction and security audits.
  • Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.
  • Develop routines for end-users to facilitate best practices database use.
  • Directs programmers and analysts to make changes to data base management systems.

Education/ Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent work experience.
  • 4-5 years of experience as a database administrator with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers.
  • Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with database processing flowcharting techniques.
  • Experience building and maintaining NextGen Ambulatory EHR templates and documents
  • 4-5 years related experience with template development.
  • Working technical knowledge of NextGen Ambulatory EHR Thorough understanding of platforms such as MS SQL Server.
  • Experience building custom SQL Server stored procedures Strong written and oral communication skills.

Physical Demands:  

Sedentary Work – Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
