SQL Database Administrator - PH

ABOUT THE ROLE:

SQL DBA role oversees all the databases and database servers in production and test environments to make sure they are constantly running on optimum performance and configured using industry best practices; they are secure, and failures are addressed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role you'll get to...

• configure SQL databases for performance tuning, as well as scheduled care and maintenance
• organize the DBA assignments and manage the work plans
• manage Cloud and on-prem resources including but not limited to: Windows SQL server, Azure SQL DB, AWS Redshift, Azure Data Factory and Stream analytics, etc.
• maintain and monitor SQL Server Databases while maximizing availability of critical business data
• ensure corporate data is protected, secured, and backed up for safeguard
• oversee required actions to make sure all servers are patched, and the latest service pack has been applied to all the servers while maintaining an effective communication on Server Maintenance and build activities and issues

REQUIREMENTS:

On day one we'll expect you to...

Skills or abilities:

• have a strong communication skills and willing to work in a team-oriented structure
• develop SQL Queries and SQL based objects
• identify slow running queries in and performance tune those queries
• identify server’s hardware bottlenecks that could affect SQL Server’s performance
• identify shortcomings in SSIS packages performance and address those issues
• to have the willingness to learn new technologies and new tools to better monitor/manage the environment
• manage security and access rights on SQL Server database servers
• be able to do the database design and architecture knowledge and experience
• be able to create scripts to automate administrative tasks
• be familiar with cloud DB services (e.g., Azure SQL DB, AWS Redshift, Azure Cosmos DB and Azure Table storage) as well as Azure Data factory and Stream Analytics

Knowledge & Experience:

• have a strong knowledge in Relational Data Management, SQL Server 2012 and 2019
• have a strong knowledge over SQL Server jobs and job maintenance
• have more than 1 year experience working and troubleshooting SSIS packages
• have a strong knowledge on how SQL Server security works
• SSRS knowledge is a plus

Education:

• have a minimum 4 yr. degree in Systems related field or equivalent experience as a DBA/Lead DB
• Microsoft SQL Server certification is a plus

Others:

• have a fully functional and up-to-date computer with which to perform duties
• be willing to install next-generation endpoint protection on the computer
• be willing a current resident of the Philippines and can perform work from there
• be willing to work in US Pacific time zone (8:00am-5:00pm PST)
