Job Overview

This position is part of the Data Platforms team responsible for support and management of Arrowstreet's data persistence and consumption infrastructure. The Senior Data Platforms Engineer will be responsible for resolution of operational issues along with extending, maintaining and migrating data platform. The candidate should be comfortable working in procedural environment and familiar with the Infrastructure as Code approach to platform deployment. Good communication skills are a must.

This position will be heavily involved in maintenance and enhancement of Arrowstreet's data platforms and supporting systems, including SQL Server, SSRS, PowerBi, and Delphix. Knowledge of AWS RDS and NoSQL data platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with team members to efficiently resolve operational issues.
• Investigate, design and implement solutions to data platforms issues and enhancements.
• Automation of processes in alignment with existing ASC infrastructure (Powershell, Python, Ansible )
• Review and enhance documentation for troubleshooting and resolution procedures for all levels of support
• Provide cross training to other operations engineers as required
• Occasional evening or weekend work required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years relevant experience implementing and managing SQL Server installation. Expert level understanding of disaster recover, high availability, query performance , indexing , compression, remote queries and engine functionality.
• Solid understanding of coding techniques and the impact on performance of queries and stored procedures.
• Strong experience implementing and supporting SSRS and Power Bi.
• Experience working with data virtualization, ie Delphix.
• Experience working with Microsoft technologies Windows, Windows Server, Active Directory and Kerberos Authentication.
• Proven technical expertise resolving complex problems across a broad range of Microsoft and in house developed applications (Active Directory, SQL, IIS)
• Experience using troubleshooting tools SQL Sentry or similar diagnostic tool, DMVs, tracing, extended events.
• Ability to work independently, effectively prioritizing competing issues and bringing assigned tasks to a resolution or escalating as needed.
• Ability to communicate well within and across teams; foster relationships throughout the organization, and build trust amongst peers through demonstrated strong job performance.

Plus

• AWS experience especially with RDS Postgres, Athena, S3, Lambda and Step functions.
• Familiarity with agile process management
• Familiarity with GitLab pipelines , Ansible Tower, Terraform, PowerShell, Python
