Overview
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a single project or multiple projects. This employee is a skilled and experienced Construction Project Manager that oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of Data Center construction projects. Many times, the Sr. PM is managing multiple projects and ASMs simultaneously, or very large projects.
The Sr. PM directs and supervises work of Project Administration, Project Superintendents, and Project Engineers to establish operational priorities and maintain successful relationships with Owners, Subcontractors, Unions, etc. May be designated the lead PM on large projects, integrated projects or projects of a very complex nature. At this level, the Employee has developed the ability to successfully manage challenging and difficult Client relationships.
The Sr. Project Manager (Sr. PM) manages the overall program implementation for Client projects – leading direction, completion, and financial outcome for our Clients on each assigned project with autonomy. As the Sr. Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring successful project delivery within the defined scope, budget, and schedule.
This role requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes specific to datacenter builds. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage contractors, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. This role reports to the Project Executive.
Primary Responsibilities
• Ensure the company’s safety program are adhered to
• Implement and enforce Quality Assurance and Quality Control measures to maintain high standards of construction and safety
• Lead, direct, and promote cross-functional teams across various projects to deliver each within the constraints of schedule, budget, and scope
• Lead and motivate project teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, to achieve project goals and milestones
• Manage pre-job planning efforts (schedule, budget, staffing, procurement)
• Manage all operations of a project, from pre-construction through commissioning and warranty
• Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of data center construction projects from inception to completion
• Monitor project budgets, control costs, and ensure adherence to financial guidelines throughout the project lifecycle
• Responsible for job purchasing, subcontracting, contract drafting, and vendor coordination
• Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with project requirements and specifications
• Primary daily onsite Company representation for the project, will maintain communication with project Stakeholders including issue resolution
• Responsible for Subcontractor management and issue resolution
• Supports the Quality Control process
• Supports BIM process
• Manage, train, and mentor the PMs & APMs
• Effective Client relationship management
• Foster strong relationships with Clients, Architects, and other Stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment of project objectives
• Deep understanding of Customer's culture and needs
• Ensure that the Leader's reports are assembled correctly and in a timely manner each month for project deliverables and interoffice deadlines are met
• Complete understanding of all subcontracts and respective scopes of work
• Understanding of what constitutes a breach of contract and the ability to initiate/complete the appropriate steps in enforcing
• Identify and lead cost saving initiatives
• Promote community service involvement by project team members
• Promote CPS/CCM and the Family of Companies by representing with integrity, leadership, effective communication and a positive attitude in all situations
• Manage multiple Project Managers while maintaining the above requirements
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project success
• Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
Professional Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction or minimum of 10 years of professional construction experience
• Minimum of 5 years Construction Management/Engineering experience with Mission Critical/Data Center or Heavy Industrial background; BIM awareness and thorough understanding of the industry required (spreadsheet says 5 years and 10 years, please advise)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience leading large cross-functional teams/managing people and delivering communications to various Stakeholders, including Customers
• Extensive knowledge of construction methodologies, CSI building codes, and industry best practices
• Experience with all types of Owner / Design / Contractor Agreements and has the knowledge necessary to appropriately navigate project related issues within the confines of each Agreement
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint for use in communicating program updates to executive level, and Excel to create and maintain site program & individual project budgets
• Intermediate to advanced Construction Management software use experience (i.e.: document control and schedule software, etc. – ie: ProCore, P6)
• Experience in developing Project Cost proposals and negotiating terms of an Agreement between the Company and Client
• Excellent Risk Management skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), arithmetic and accounting proficiency, and time management skills
• Exhibits a well-defined ability to lead others and deliver predictable results
• Strong management and leadership qualities and skills
• Ability to exhibit discretion and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
• Strong decision making/ problem-solving skills
• Strong financial acumen capable of insuring project profitability for the company
• Strong construction contract acumen capable of ascertaining risk mitigation efforts around contract terms to protect project profitability and company interest
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $170,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
