Sr Data Analyst-Advanced Analytics

We're looking for a Senior Data Analyst to provide best-in-class analytics, software, and data management practices within our Data Analytics organization. In addition to exceptional technical prowess, a candidate for this role must exhibit extraordinary attention to detail and project management skills.
This role will work closely with multiple teams across the organization, particularly in the areas of Marketing, Distribution, and Product Development. As a key subject matter expert on our insurance lifecycle data and metrics, Field Operations, Marketing, Pricing, and Product Management will depend on our insights. This role will also be heavily involved with our Data Science and Vendor Management programs to assist with ETL, advise on data pipeline buildout, support retrovalidations, and rationalizing disparate data sets.
This position will be based in Springfield, IL but we will consider remote candidates.
Responsibilities:

• Act as subject matter expert on core data assets including the educator header, marketing campaign log, quote, rating, exposures, and claims performance data.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines in support of various analyses across Marketing, Field Operations, Product Development, and Pricing functions.
• Develop and maintain methods to organize and compare disparate data sets from various data structures including, but not limited to databases, flat files, XML, JSON, etc.
• Develop and maintain proprietary packages to support ETL, storage, access, and analysis operations used for prototyping and product deployment.
• Work with the Director of Third Party Data and Vendor Management to establish a clear, communicable value for the data components of each product line’s expense ratio.
• Collaborate closely with Horace Mann's Data Science, Marketing Analytics, Pricing, and Product Management teams to support key current year objectives while setting the runway for long term strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, math, engineering, computer science, economics, business, or a related technical field, Master’s Degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of overall data analyst experience.
• Background in direct support of a predictive modeling team.
• Excellent data analysis and communication skills.
• Expertise in SQL (postgres, MS SQL Server, etc.), R, and/or Python.
• Expertise on both Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining ETL and/or modeling data pipelines.
• Experience adhering to a rigorous software development practice including, but not limited to, version control systems (git preferred), style guides, and documentation in a Kanban workstream.
• Experience with statistical modeling and data visualization tools, Qlik preferred.
• Working understanding of an insurance industry, highly preferred.
• Experience solving real-world data problems with code.
• Demonstrates problem solving, decision-making, and process-improvement skills.
• Strong intellectual curiosity and capabilities.
• Familiarity and experience with competitive analysis, and communicating to a diverse audience of stakeholders.
• Ability to manage deliverables and expectations across multiple key stakeholders.
