Sr DBA-$250 StartSmart Incentive

A professional Database Administrator (DBA) will keep the database up and running smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

Note: The successful candidate will receive the $250 StartSmart Incentive post-joining.

Responsibilities

Database Management:

• Design, implement, and maintain large-scale distributed databases that handle big data.
• Optimize database performance for efficiency and scalability.
• Ensure data integrity and security within the databases.

Installation and Configuration:

• Install and configure big data technologies, such as Hadoop, NoSQL databases, and other distributed computing systems.

Monitoring and Optimization:

• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize query performance.
• Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies to ensure efficient data processing.

Backup and Recovery:

• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data in case of failures or disasters.
• Test and document recovery procedures to minimize downtime.

Security:

• Implement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Manage user access and permissions to ensure data privacy and compliance with regulations.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and other IT professionals to integrate database systems with other components of the data infrastructure.

Capacity Planning:

• Conduct capacity planning to anticipate future data growth and ensure the infrastructure can scale accordingly.

Documentation:

• Maintain thorough documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Automation:

• Implement automation scripts and tools to streamline routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.

Education and Training:

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
• Provide training and support to other team members or end-users as needed.

Collaboration with Data Architects:

• Work closely with data architects to ensure that the database infrastructure aligns with the overall data architecture and business goals.

Problem Resolution:

• Address and resolve database-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous data availability.

Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards.

Requirements

• 5 years of proven working experience as a Database Administrator 
• Bachelor Degree preferred in Computer Science or similiar
• Certifications in Oracle or SQL
• Fluent in English written and spoken
• Hands-on experience with SQL / Oracle database standards and end user applications
• Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL scripting
• Database design, documentation and coding
• Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools
• Preferably experience on AWS migrations/implementations
• Familiarity with programming languages API
• Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically
