We’re seeking a Sr Game Designer for a hybrid position in Los Angeles, CA. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. As a Sr Game Designer, you will be instrumental in crafting and refining both in-game and out-of-game experiences that captivate and surprise. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to innovate and iterate on player-focused designs, ensuring that every element resonates. This role offers benefits for a 40-hour work week and weekly paychecks (W2) for the duration of the contract. There is no application deadline for this role. Sr Game Designer Responsibilities: • Design and develop champion kits, including new cards, powers, items, relics, and constellations. • Create challenging content such as adventures, event mechanics, and quests to engage players. • Implement your designs using Python scripting, ensuring they are production-ready. • Work closely with a dynamic interdisciplinary team to deliver content on a live service schedule. • Provide constructive feedback to peers, enhancing the overall quality of team output. • Navigate design goals within established frameworks, adapting to constraints while maintaining a player-centric focus. • Identify and propose improvements in tools, workflows, or documentation. • Collaborate with engineering, product, and art teams to align on design requirements and constraints. Sr Game Designer Qualifications: • Over 5 years of professional game design experience, particularly with live service games. • Proven ability to work autonomously while aligning with the design direction. • Experience thriving in small team settings, delivering high-quality player experiences. • Strong skills in prototyping and building sustainable, production-ready content. • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying concepts to remote and interdisciplinary teams. • Deep familiarity with strategy or card games, especially Legends of Runeterra or similar deckbuilding roguelikes (preferred). • Experience in designing for hero collector or strategy mobile games (preferred). • Background in mentoring or providing feedback on design processes (preferred). • Proficiency in Unity and scripting languages, particularly Python (preferred).
