What You Will Do:
The US Sr Mgr for Operational Marketingis responsible for the development and execution of the Thayers marketingstrategy across all consumer touchpoints for their assigned franchises andtrade customers. This critical rolerequires a strong marketing competency and the ability to thrive in a dynamicorganization. This position reportsdirectly to the Director of US Marketing.
- Establish and direct thedevelopment and implementation of the brand marketing plans and budget to helpachieve the category volume, profit and spending objectives. Leverage in-depthknowledge of the elements and drivers of the marketing mix to develop andadjust marketing plans in-line with the US brand strategy and in closecollaboration with the global brand leads (DMI) through a joint partnership andleveraging synergies where appropriate.
- Effectively plan to ensurethat Gross, Net and Profit targets are met, by overseeing the execution ofbrand and trade strategies by recognizing the profitability and revenue impactof all business opportunities, and develop an understanding of the meaning andinterrelationships of key financial indicators, while being able to readilyidentify gaps in budget and profit plans.
- Determine resourceallocations (financial and people) across the assigned franchise(s) to optimizeoverall brand performance, while anticipating risks to brand/segment performanceand ensuring that contingency plans are developed to manage through themnationally.
- Develop and foster a closeworking relationship with the trade (sell-in team) while collaborating withsales leadership to translate the national brand strategy into customerspecific plans and execute those plans in-line with the class of trade andcustomer objectives.
- Manage and lead multiple cross-functional teams to execute brandinitiatives and implement plans. The brand lead will also need to ensure thebrand strategy is communicated, understood and implemented by allcross-functional groups.
- Model leadership behavior not only for the Brand team, but alsothe division and cross-functional partners/organizations
- Develop and support the strategic brand plans, leveraging currentand future consumer & customer trends as well as in-depth knowledge ofcompetitive landscape to build brand equity
- Manage, coach and develop junior marketing staff as well asindirect reports and cross-functional peers to deliver brand objectives whileclearly communicating standards of performance.
What We AreLooking For:
- 5-7 years of progressive Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or relatedmarketing/brand management experience.
- Marketing experience to include brand positioning, strategydevelopment, consumer insight generation, direct to consumer advertising,consumer promotion and integrated marketing communications development. A deepunderstanding of consumer centricity and omni-channel activations are a must
- Marketing experience in the digital world, (i.e., social media,e-commerce, analytics, on-line) highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with the account teams, the trade whichcontributed to profitable brand growth. An in-depth understanding CPG/FMCGand customer landscape is a must.
- Demonstrated experience developing strategic agency partnershipswhich contributed to long term brand health.
- Demonstrated experience in providing marketing thoughtleadership-taking consumer insight and using it to drive thinking and strategicdecisions.
- Solid financial acumen, budget management experience and a strongability to utilize judgment and solid thinking ability to analyze complexissues and recommend clear direction within the big picture needs of the brand
- Excellent communication skills with ability to presenteffectively, foster open communication, listening effectively to others andprepare effective written communications and presentations.
- Strong leadership skills and a strong ability to cultivate goodrelationships/networks and actively fostering teamwork across the US and DMI(global marketing)
- Ability to manage the performance and develop the appropriateskills of others, which should include encouraging diversity of thinking while motivatingand coaching others.
- Ability to plan for the short-term and long-term, and manageexecutions within a strategic framework.
- Ability to self-manage and self-motivate. Acting with integrity,and demonstrating entrepreneurial pursuits.
- Demonstrated experience in executing and delivering brandleadership in a similar brand management role with P&L accountability.
- Marketing experience in the digital world, (i.e., social media,e-commerce, analytics, on-line) highly preferred.
