Sr Software Engineer - Android

About the Role

Rider Growth is a new and emerging line of business in Uber with the mission to help increase the rate of customer acquisition, rate of customer retention, and increase revenue by a) optimising existing products and

b) building new products for customer acquisition

We're looking for passionate Android developers to join Rider Growth team, a cross-functional group in which Design, Data Science, Backend, Android and iOS engineers work collaboratively to design and build products for riders to simplify their booking journey on our Mobile App as well as build products from scratch to help new users complete their booking journey via other mediums such as WhatsApp and Phone call.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points

---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

• Design/architect, develop and/or test software applications in Android using Uber's technology stack;
• Apply technical knowledge to evaluate complex development/projects and provide recommendations to resolve complex technical issues;
• You'll be very close to business concerns, working alongside Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists and Operations team, to understand what's most important, and translating that to systems, designs, and code that best solves for today, as well as plans for tomorrow
• You will build user-facing products - the work you do will impact every single Rider request. You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality products with fast iterations. You will have the opportunity to impact the lives of the mobility riders globe and disrupt a trillion-dollar industry. A general eye for business concerns, combined with an acumen for systems that scale will be necessary.

---- Basic Qualifications ----

• Grit, drive and a deep feeling of ownership.
• Minimum 4+ years hands on experience with Android development
• Strong focus on high-quality mobile UI experiences. Passion about delivering software that delights our end users. Proficiency with UI/UX paradigms to build elegant user experiences.
• Experience in analysing a feature in production using analytics and experiments
• Experience in collaborating on projects and working efficiently as part of a team
• Thriving in ambiguity and having a go-getter attitude

• Experience with open source libraries like Retrofit, RxJava, Dagger 2, Lottie
